MUMBAI: A 26-year-old woman from Goregaon who granted access to her mobile contact list while trying to avail loan in May but did not complete the application process after suspecting something amiss was harassed by Life Loan app fraudsters, who sent messages to her friends and relatives describing her as a prostitute.

Goregaon police registered the case on June 19 and are tracking the number (6372182872) that was used to send the offensive messages along with the morphed photographs of the woman, her sister, and her friends.

In the complaint, the woman said, “I started receiving threatening messages and was being blackmailed Some of the messages read ‘she, her mother and sister are prostitutes and will sleep for Rs200’.”

Despite multiple complaitns against the app, it is still operational and available on Play Store.
