The two people wanting to be the next leader of the Conservative Party and the UK's next Prime Minister are preparing to go head-to-head in a live TV debate on Monday evening. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss is vying with former Chancellor Rishi Sunak for the votes of Tory party members to replace Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
After seeing off challenges from, among others, Penny Mordaunt and Kemi Badenoch, one of these two will take charge of a UK facing a cost-of-living crisis fuelled by soaring inflation. Over the weekend, the pair were trading blows over immigration and China before facing each other in the BBC studios tonight.
In the first of a series of live TV debates, the two will debate the issues on Our Next Prime Minister on BBC One on Monday (July 25) from 9pm to 10pm. The pair had both pulled out of an earlier Sky News debate before the final two were selected by Conservative MPs.
