Liz Truss spends final weekend partying at Chequers and 'says at least I've been PM'

Doomed Liz Truss has spent her last weekend as Prime Minister partying at Chequers after her 44-day premiership crashed down.

The outgoing Tory leader was due to hold a bash tonight for close aides, after hosting ministers at the 16th Century grace-and-favour mansion in the Chilterns on Saturday.

Today it emerged Downing Street staff were in tears as Ms Truss prepared her resignation last week.
