The Foreign Secretary was in Leeds earlier today to campaign alongside local Conservative Party candidates standing for election to the council.
Liz Truss was in East Ardsley to help local Conservative candidates in their election campaigns, in the wake of a number of scandals which have rocked Westminster like ‘partygate’ and Wakefield MP Imran Ahmad Khan's conviction for sexual assault.
However, the Foreign Secretary said “people are voting on local issues” rather than national ones and people care more about road improvements than Westminster - and she claimed that voters weren't being put off by revelations on Chancellor Rishi Sunak's wealth and his wife's tax affairs as the cost of living crisis grips the rest of the country.
