Liz Truss earns £16,500 PER HOUR for a speech on top of paid hotel, flights and expenses

Calamity PM Liz Truss was paid £65,751.62 to give a speech.

The Tory flop netted over twice the average annual UK salary for attending a conference in India for four hours.

Accommodation valued at £1,800 was also laid on for her and a staff member, plus flights and expenses.

Ms Truss told the crowd at February’s event in Mumbai, organised by media firm ABP Networks, she was “struck by the energy and the excitement of the city”. She added: “As a country that believes in freedom… you are going to be vital in next few years.”

A month later, she got almost £6,500 for addressing Tokyo University. It came from London speaking agency Chartwell – which she joined after her stint as Britain’s shortest-serving PM.

Her seven-week reign collapsed in chaos in October when her mini-Budget trashed the country’s finances.

The pound nosedived while interest rates soared – fuelling the cost-of-living crisis and leading to a big rise in interest rates for home owners.

But in a US speech earlier this month, the Norfolk MP blamed Britain’s woes on everyone but herself.

Told of her speaking fees, a Labour source said: “After the Conservatives crashed the economy, this shows how out of touch they are.”

Her earnings were revealed in the latest register of MPs’ interests.

In her final speech as PM, Ms Truss, 47, said she looked forward “to continuing to serve South West Norfolk".

Her spokesman said: “Liz continues to pursue a variety of local, national and international issues, standing up for Norfolk residents and the people of the United Kingdom.”
