Liz Hurley clutches son Damian's hand for support after tragic death of ex Shane Warne

Liz Hurley was pictured leaning on her son for support following the tragic death of her ex Shane Warne.

The model and actress wore an all-black outfit as she was seen out in public for the first time since the cricket legend died from a suspected heart attack at age 52.

She was seen clutching Damian's hand as they headed out in West London the day before a private funeral service was being held for Shane in his native Australia.

And Liz, 56, shared her sorrow that she wasn't able to be there to say goodbye, saying: "My heart aches that I can't be in Australia tomorrow for Shane's funeral.

"I was filming last night and, with the time jump, physically can't get there."

Sharing snaps from their time together, she added: "These pictures were taken in Sri Lanka to celebrate our engagement- we had all our children with us and it was the happiest time. It still hasn’t really sunk in that he’s gone.

"It seems too cruel that all the people who loved him will never have another Lion hug, but our memories will live forever. RIP Lionheart, with love your Luna"

Liz split from Shane in 2013 after a three year romance, but they remained close.

She was left devastated by his death, as was Damian, 19, who paid tribute to him after the sad news emerged.

Liz had posted on Instagram at the time: " I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved Lionheart".

And Damian wrote: " I’m still trying to wrap my head around this… SW was a father figure to me for most of my formative years and was truly one the best men I’ve ever known. My heart is broken. Thinking of and sending love to all SW’s family".

As they were pictured together this week, Liz and Damian both looked solemn as they leaned on each other for support.

Both hiding their eyes behind sunglasses and wearing dark clothing, they held hands and stuck closely to each other.

Liz was working on film Christmas in the Caribbean before meeting up with her son.

Liz and Shane famously dated from 2010 to 2013 and were engaged to be married before their split.

And just last year, rumours had been circling that they'd reunited.

Shane wasn't happy about the untrue reports though, and lashed out at a magazine following suggestions they'd rekindled their romance.

He fumed on Twitter at the time: "For 30 years my children & I have had to put up with your lies & fabricated stories – well not anymore.

"You should not be allowed to just make things up. You are going to apologise to the Aust public for your continual lies & my family as this is an absolute disgrace – AGAIN!

"And for the small minority out there that want to reply with smart arse comments – imagine what it would be like if someone continually made up stories about you & put it in the public domain for 30 years & the effects that has on your mental health and your families!"

Shane had previously opened up about how difficult it was for him to have a relationship with the model and Hollywood star, describing the interest that surrounded her as "an absolute circus".

He once said: "We couldn’t go anywhere else because we’d just get 30-40 people, photographers, news crews, everywhere we went.

"We had seven cars following us and a helicopter over our head just following us, running red lights, cutting off in front of us."

Despite the drama, the sports star once told the Mirror that his years with Liz were the happiest of his life.

He'd confessed: "I miss the love we had. My years with Elizabeth were the happiest of my life. I wanted to be better with her."

And he also once confessed he was gutted their relationship was over, adding: "[I’m] quite sad it’s over because I still care about her deeply and she’s a wonderful person."

A private ceremony was held for Shane this weekend at St Kilda Football ground in Melbourne.

His heartbroken children were seen kissing his coffin as they said goodbye to the sports star.
