Livingston Women’s midfielder Rebecca Jaconelli has backed her side to get back to winning ways when they host Drybrugh Athletic on Sunday.
And she insists last weekend’s draw with SWF Championship basement side Greenock Morton shows the strength of the league rather than any signs of complacency from the Lionesses.
They had to settle for a share of the spoils just a week after a 10-1 thumping on Renfrew.
It was the first time they had dropped points at home all season and they still boast a healthy 10 point lead at the top of the table but there’s no room for error as they target promotion to the second tier.
Speaking to the Courier, she said: “To go from that result against Renfrew to a draw against Morton shows just how unpredictable the league can be and shows you that every team is capable of taking points off each other.
“It’s a really competitive league, which is a good thing, and there’s no easy games at all.
“We were trying to do the right things but it just wasn’t quite coming off but Morton are a good team.
“They’re defensively strong and work hard for each other and that definitely showed against us because they were very difficult to break down. A lot of credit has to go to them.”
She added: “I think the fact it was maybe a shock that we drew just shows how consistently high our levels have been all season. We’ve shown we deserve our place in the league but we need to keep doing that.
“We’ve been scoring plenty of goals and performing well at the back and we’re all confident we can get back to doing that against Dryburgh.
“We need to get our heads back up. We can’t afford to go into any game with any sort of complacency and maybe the result brought us back down a wee bit.
“We know we have the ability to hurt them going forward as well as keeping things tight at the back.”
