Livingston captain awaiting contract talks as he looks to extend Tony Macaroni Arena stay

Livingston captain Nicky Devlin says he's still awaiting discussions on a new contract but confirmed he'd be more than happy to extend his stay in West Lothian.

The 29-year-old, currently in his fourth season with the club, is out of contract in the summer. The skipper’s next league appearance on their return to action will be his 100th top flight game for the club - becoming just the fifth player to reach that target.

And he has no desire to leave the Lions, saying: "The gaffer is going round everyone. I’ll hopefully get my one-to-one soon to see what he’s saying.

“There’s not been a lot to update. The club know my position and how much I enjoy it here. We will just need to wait and see and hopefully get something sorted.

“This is my fourth year and the club has been great for me, giving me the opportunity to play in the Premiership and as captain latterly. I’m more than happy to be here so long as the club want me.”

Devlin joked the club’s winter training camp in Turkey has been the perfect chance to catch up on his sleep.

The full-back admits he does feel guilty, though, that wife Lauren has been left to look after two-month-old baby Oliver while he’s enjoying an altogether warmer and more peaceful week away.

The Lions defeated Latvian side FK Liepaja 4-1 on Monday and take on Dutch outfit Fortuna Sittard on Thursday before flying home.

He commented: “It’s been great to get away and do some intense work. Obviously I feel bad coming away and leaving Lauren on her own getting up through the night with the wee man, I genuinely do but we have plenty of family round about us to help thankfully.

“It’s just been amazing to be able to sleep a whole night through to be honest with you. I’m cramming in a week’s worth of sleep and using every minute to rest up before going back.

“I’ve not even seen any of the night time games in the World Cup - they kick off at 10pm over here and I’m out cold by that time.”
