Livingston boss Martindale surprised as no bids received yet for Fitzwater or Stryjek

LIVINGSTON manager Davie Martindale admits he is surprised goalkeeper Max Stryjek has not yet been snapped up.

The Lions boss had been bracing himself for the departure of the Pole after Stryjek attracted interest from clubs at the tail end of last season.

Informal enquiries have also been made about defender Jack Fitzwater, who was linked with Newcastle United last season, and Both players are under contract at the Tony Macaroni Arena but Martindale expects at least one of them to have been sold by the time the summer transfer window closes.

Stryjek, 25, picked up eight clean sheets and saved 70.5 per cent of the shots he faced last season as the West Lothian outfit finished seventh in the Premiership.

Martindale said: “We’ve had a few tentative enquiries about Max and Jack but it is all third parties to be honest, nothing concrete.

“I actually thought Max would be away if I am being honest because there was quite a bit of interest before we went into the close season, I had a couple of agents phoning for clubs.

“It’s kind of went a wee bit quiet, just tentative enquiries making sure he is still available, asking price - all that kind of thing.

“I would expect one of them to move on but it’s football and you never know.

“I would be more than happy if the two of them are in the building come September 1 but I am one that likes to get my business done early doors.”
