Earlier this month an MP made headlines when he suggested that a healthy meal could be cooked easily for as little as 30p. Speaking in the House of Commons, Conservative member for Ashfield in Nottinghamshire, Lee Anderson, also suggested that food banks were unnecessary.
Needless to say, his words drew criticism as food price rocket in the wake of the energy crisis and the spiralling cost of living hits families across the country. With that in mind, NottinghamshireLive reporter Caroline Barry decided to put Mr Anderson's suggestion to the test and eat for just 30p per meal.
