A social media star known for doing drinking challenges has been found dead after a livestreams where he downed copious amounts of alcohol.
'Brother Three Thousand' - whose full name is not publicly known - had been seen drinking several bottles of baijiu, a spirit containing 60% alcohol, before he was discovered dead, Chinese media claims.
The livestreamer whose last name has been revealed as 'Wang' had broadcast himself drinking on the Chinese version of TikTok, Douyin, earlier this month.
The drinking binge had been part of four one-on-one challenges with other creators on the app, before being found the following afternoon.
Mr Wang downed baijiu after losing three rounds of the challenge, and according to viewers finished off seven bottles of the spirit.
"When his family found him, he was already gone," an acquaintance, named only as Mr Zhao, told Shangyou News.
"He didn't even get a chance for emergency treatment."
Mr Wang's funeral took place on Saturday.
Drinking challenges on social media are banned in China, and Mr Wang's dead has fuelled calls for even tighter online safety rules.
It's understood Mr Wang had already been banned by Douyin - where he had amassed 44,000 followers - but instead had opened a new account.
Mr Wang's death is not the first time prolific social media users have died after being seen carrying out stunts.
In 2021, Xiao Qiumei died in a 160ft fall from a crane she had been operating for her followers, while reportedly filming herself for her Douyin followers.
Fellow Douyin star Wu Yongnin also was killed in 2017 when filming himself carrying out a rooftop stunt to win a 100,000 yuan (£11,000) prize, having also tragically fallen to his death when he lost his grip.
