Emergency warning issued for WA bushfires

An out of control bushfire in Wellesley in the Shire of Harvey has been contained and downgraded to a watch and act.

An emergency warning had been issued for an area bounded by Wellington Road, Wellesley Road North and Bernbrooke Place.

There is still a possible threat to lives and homes in the area as conditions are changing.

The fire was first reported about 2am on Saturday and was upgraded to emergency level due to weather conditions and difficult terrain.

The blaze is moving slowly in a southerly direction.

Residents are advised to leave in a westerly direction on Wellesley Road North.

About 60 firefighters have been battling the blaze.
