Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott makes 'unbelievable' admission about Man City star Phil Foden

Manchester City star Phil Foden has been praised by Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott after his impressive start to the season for Pep Guardiola's side.

Foden has registered six goals and two assists in 11 appearances in all competitions so far this season, including five strikes in the Premier League. The England international scored his first career hat-trick against Manchester United last weekend as City secured a 6-3 victory over the Reds.

The 22-year-old, who came through the ranks at City, has been in magnificent form this term and is likely to start for his country at the World Cup in Qatar next month.

The City attacker has since been praised by Liverpool starlet Elliott, who suggested that Foden was an 'unbelievable' talent and insisted it was a great feat to be starting regularly for the Blues.

In an interview with The Times, Elliott discussed the amount of young players featuring for Premier League sides at the top level.

"You see so many young players coming through now at all clubs. Phil Foden is an unbelievable talent starting in this City team," he said.

Elliott also reflected on a conversation with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after City pipped the Merseyside club to the league title last season, insisting that he is desperate to be 'at the forefront' of his side's next crop of first-team players.

"I remember it like it was yesterday," he said. "If you look at the likes of Fabio Carvalho, Ibrahima Konate, people forget Trent [Alexander-Arnold’s] age [24], Darwin [Núñez, 23], Joe Gomez [25]... these are young, up-and-coming players. I think it is bringing something else to the game across football. That energy and hunger to want to go out and impress."
