Liverpool XI vs Tottenham: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Carabao Cup today

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez will make his return from injury ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup tie with Tottenham.

The England international defender is yet to play this season due to a muscle strain picked up during pre-season, but Andoni Iraola has confirmed the defender would be available for the third-round tie at Anfield. He starts here.

Speaking on Monday, the Reds’ boss said: “Joe is training with the team and is available for tomorrow. It's a matter of deciding how much he can play.”

The Spaniard also revealed that Giorgi Mamardashvili would start in goal, replacing Alisson Becker.

That isn’t the only change to the Reds’ lineup with Iraola hinting that “we will see tomorrow players we haven't seen”.

That is good news for young stars Rio Ngumoha, James McConnell, Trey Nyoni and Lewis Koumas, all of whom start.

Cody Gakpo leads the line, with Jeremie Frimpong recalled to right-back.

Liverpool XI: Mamardashvili, Frimpong, Aruajo, Gomez, Kerkez, McConnell, Mac Allister, Nyoni, Gakpo, Koumas, Ngumoha

Subs: Alisson, Endo, Jacquet, Szoboszlai, Isak, Munoz, Barcola, Gravenberch, Chambers

Injured: Ekitike, Leoni, Bradley, Chiesa

Time and date: 8pm BST on Tuesday, September 15, 2026
