Liverpool XI vs Real Madrid: Nunez starts - Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest today

Darwin Nunez starts for Liverpool in tonight’s huge clash against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed the striker suffered a shoulder injury during the weekend win at Newcastle, having earlier scored in a game which otherwise provided a number of fitness boosts to the Reds.

“There is a chance,” the Liverpool boss told reporters on Monday. “We have to see how he is. When we know that we will make a decision.”

Jota and Firmino have appeared off the bench in consecutive games following long-term absences, and are again among the substitutes, while Virgil van Dijk returned at Newcastle and starts again.

Klopp keeps faith with the midfield trio of Fabinho, Stefan Bajcetic and Jordan Henderson after their selection in the recent back-to-back wins. Joe Gomez starts alongside Van Dijk in defence.

Ibrahima Konate and Arthur Melo are nearing returns but sit out the Real game. Thiago Alcantara, Calvin Ramsay and Luis Diaz are all unavailable due to injury.

Starting XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Bajcetic; Salah, Nunez, Gakpo

Subs: Kelleher, Adrian, Matip, Tsimikas, Milner, Keita, Jones, Elliott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Carvalho, Jota, Firmino
