Legends secure trophy
Just like the current first-team at the end of the season, Liverpool's Masters side lifted a trophy on Friday night.
After making their way past Rangers and Celtic, the Reds were defeated by Manchester United in what turned out to be their only loss in the tournament. And revenge is a dish best served cold when the two sides met in the final and Liverpool secured a 5-3 victory.
The Liverpool side consisted of Jamie Carragher, Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Stewart Downing, Jermaine Pennant, Sander Westerveld, Luis Garcia and David Thompson. And Garcia spoke afterwards about what it was like to play with his former team-mates against some of their old foes.
"The tournament was so intense, but we enjoyed it," he said.

Ex-Arsenal defender warns Reds' rivals
Liverpool have left a gap so big between themselves and the teams occupying third and fourth that Bacary Sagna can't see it closing this season.
The Reds and Man City have set the bar in recent seasons when it comes to winning the Premier League, clinching the last five between them and finishing with over 90 points. Last season Jurgen Klopp's side finished second and Chelsea in third were trailing by 18 points.
Despite the teams below Liverpool strengthening this summer, as have the Merseyside club and former Arsenal defender Sagna as told the chasing pack they still have a way to go to catch Liverpool.
“They will get better but I don’t think that any of them are ready to compete with Manchester City or Liverpool this season," Sagna said.
