Liverpool is set for another day of record breaking temperatures as the heatwave continues.
The city saw its hottest ever temperatures on Monday as Liverpool Airport 's weather station recorded temperatures of 36C. Until now, the highest temperature recorded was 34.5C on August 2, 1990.
According to the Met Office, temperatures could soar to the same levels again on Tuesday as an amber weather warning for extreme heat remains in place across much of Merseyside. In St Helens, a red weather warning has been issued, while closer to the coast in West Kirby, Wirral, temperatures are expected to reach highs of 33 degrees.

Liverpool Lime Street station is warning rail users not to travel on Tuesday and Merseyrail's chief operating officer has confirmed the conditions will impact today's train schedule. The hour by hour forecast for Liverpool shows highs of 35 degrees but the Met Office has predicted temperatures could reach 36°C.
