Soon after, it was Liverpool’s turn to try and score from the spot when Mohamed Salah was brought down in the box by Ferland Mendy.
Salah took it but blasted it off the outside of the post and wide.
Slot’s side, who generated over 2.5 xG throughout the game, sealed the game in the 76th minute when Cody Gakpo powered a header home from a Robertson cross.
Real Madrid created 1.2 xG, but it was a lacklustre performance from Carlo Ancelotti’s side, with both Mbappe and Jude Bellingham having little-to-no impact on the match.

Los Blancos travel to Atalanta next time out in the Champions League as they aim to salvage their campaign. After five matchweeks, they sit in a lowly 24th position in the standings.
