Liverpool vs Paris Saint-Germain LIVE
Ousmane Dembele scored twice as Paris Saint-Germain knocked Liverpool out of the Champions League. The Reds trailed the French champions 2-0 coming into the second leg and were comfortably the better side throughout the first hour of a frenetic match at Anfield. They faced a pair of setbacks as Hugo Ektike was stretchered off with a serious-looking ankle injury before VAR controversially denied Alexis Mac Allister a spot kick after he was bundled over in the box by Willian Pacho.
Dembele then delivered the decisive blow against the run of play, capping an incisive counter-attack with a finish wonderfully stroked beyond the reach of Giorgi Mamardashvili. He then added PSG’s second of the night, and fourth of the tie, to rub salt into Liverpool’s already smarting wounds.
There will be plenty of concern around Ekitike, though, who will know full well that his involvement at this summer’s World Cup is in the balance after his nasty ankle injury.
