Liverpool vs Man City: Chris Sutton Predicts Mega Scoreline at Anfield

BBC pundit Chris Sutton has predicted Liverpool will annihilate under-fire Manchester City in their top-of-the-table clash in the Premier League and come away with a resounding 4-1 victory. If the Reds win at Anfield Stadium on Sunday (December 1), they will go 11 points clear of the Cityzens at the top of the English top-flight rankings.

Liverpool in a League of Their Own; Manchester City Going Through Rough Patch

Arne Slot has turned Liverpool into a steamroller, capable of crushing any team in its path. The Merseysiders have absolutely annihilated the competition in the Premier League, opening an eight-point lead at the top of the rankings after just 12 matches. They have won 10 games, drawn one, and lost just once. They have also been flawless in the UEFA Champions League, emerging as the only team with a 100% record after five Matchdays. In their most recent outing, Liverpool claimed a 2-0 win over Real Madrid. They never had the joy of beating the All-Whites under Jurgen Klopp.

While Liverpool have been cruising, Manchester City are going through a seemingly never-ending rough patch. They have not won in their last six games in all competitions, losing five. The only draw came in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday (November 26), as they squandered a 3-0 lead against Feyenoord.

Chris Sutton Expects Man City Misery to Continue

In his BBC column, Sutton warned against underestimating Man City but still went ahead and predicted a routing for Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola is stressed and the players look edgy and short of confidence, but let’s put it into context because this is one bad month after many years of total dominance, and what Pep has achieved and done for the Premier League has been phenomenal,” Sutton said.

We all know how good they can be and you could never rule out, say, Phil Foden coming good, or Erling Haaland putting in a big performance. The problem with that thought process is that there just doesn’t seem much to suggest that will happen at Anfield. Foden has not been himself all season, and I really don’t know why. Haaland is missing a lot of chances and City are conceding a lot of goals. So I just don’t see them bouncing back against Liverpool, even if Bradley and Konate (injury risk) cannot play.”

He added:

It’s been a good week for Liverpool and a good season so far but a win to send them 11 points clear of the defending champions would make it a great week and a great campaign, and that’s what I am going for.

They might not just beat City, they could take them apart like Spurs did. Because City have been so dominant in the Premier League, there will be a lot of people out there who would be happy to see Liverpool win the title this season.”

Sutton’s prediction: Liverpool 4-1 Manchester City
