Quickfire goals from Rio Ngumoha and Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool a much-needed win over Fulham in the race to qualify for the Champions League. The Reds came into the match having lost three on the spin, but broke down a plucky Fulham side to take a two-goal lead into the break, with both Ngumoha and Salah curling past Bernd Leno. The win takes them back into the top five ahead of Sunday’s fixtures, and they will hope to put breathing space between themselves and Chelsea as they host Manchester City.
Where Liverpool have seemed shaky and vulnerable in recent matches, here they were confident and self-assured, doing well to ride out extended spells of Fulham possession. The Cottagers were far from their best, though, and struggled badly to make the most of their abundant possession, territory and set-piece opportunities.

Harry Wilson: Why my form has been so good this season

“The biggest change for me over the course of the season is minutes played. If you look at the end of the season, the players that are top of the goals, top of the assists for whatever teams, they’re the players that play the most minutes. That has been the biggest change.
“The other players from each team that are leading the team in whatever are the ones that play the most minutes. You look at Haaland at City, his goal record is incredible and he spends probably the most minutes on the pitch.
“That is testament to him, he keeps himself fit, he’s rarely injured. It is also down to the manager who keeps him on, because he knows he only needs a moment, and I think I’m that type of player.

Why are Liverpool fans protesting before Fulham game today?
15:46 , Arthur FerridgeSaturday’s game will be played out amid a backdrop of protests from angry Liverpool supporters over planned ticket price increases at Anfield.
The club announced in March that they would be increasing general admission ticket prices limited to inflation for the next three seasons.
The decision has been met with a furious backlash from several fan groups, with supporters’ union Spirit of Shankly quickly revealing plans to protest during the remainder of the campaign - starting this weekend.
The protests are set to occur both inside and outside Anfield and will not be limited to one match, with plans to carry them out across both home and away fixtures.
Spirit of Shankly have urged fans not to spend money inside the ground where possible and also said that they support suggestions of delaying season-ticket renewals until close to the deadline, which is midnight on Monday, May 25.
As part of those protests, fan group Spion Kop 1906 - who organise flags and banner displays on The Kop - confirmed on Thursday that their flags would no longer be present at Anfield for the remainder of the season.
