Liverpool victory parade route in full after confirmation event will take place

The route for Liverpool’s victory parade later this month, after the club officially accepted the offer from the Mayor of Liverpool, has been confirmed.

The parade will take place on Sunday, May 29, regardless of how the Reds fare in this Sunday’s Premier League title finale - and the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Paris on Saturday, May 28. The parade will also include Liverpool FC Women, who clinched the FA Women’s Championship title last month, securing a return to the Women’s Super League after a two-year absence.

The Mayor of Liverpool, Joanne Anderson, had already invited the club to take part in a victory parade around the city in preparation for the potential outcome of an extraordinary season. But following last Saturday’s FA Cup final win over Chelsea, this has been extended to include that trophy. Liverpool could yet add both the Premier League and the Champions League to their collection as they continue their quest for an unprecedented quadruple.

The victory route will encompass the same 13.5km journey as the 2019 parade - after the Reds won the Champions League - and will begin at Allerton Maze in the south of the city. It will then move northbound on Queens Drive toward the Fiveways roundabout (in Childwall) and on to the Rocket flyover.

From there it will journey along Queens Drive, Mill Bank, West Derby Road, Islington, Leeds Street and the Strand before the route ends at Blundell Street in the Baltic Triangle.

Liverpool FC will meet the costs of the parade ,which will be organised by the award-winning Culture Liverpool team, which also organised the 2005 and 2019 parades after Champions League wins for the club. As the parade falls on the anniversary of the Heysel Stadium disaster, throughout the morning of Sunday, May 29, the football club and Liverpool City Council will pay tribute to the 39 supporters who lost their lives on that day. The city council and the club are working together on those plans.

Mayor of Liverpool, Joanne Anderson, said: “We’re delighted that we can now confirm the club will definitely parade around the city on the 29 May – and I’m pleased we will be celebrating the achievements of both the men and women’s teams. A huge amount of work goes on behind the scenes in preparation for an event of this size and scale, so it’s fantastic that the city are now going to be able to experience this.

“Lifting the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup and the FA Women’s Championship trophy is an incredible achievement that deserves to be acknowledged and we have everything crossed that they won’t be the only trophies they are lifting on the day! Whatever the outcome of the end of the season and the Champions League Final, Liverpool FC and Liverpool FC Women have already done us proud, and we will give both teams the homecoming celebration they deserve."
