After bolstering his squad with the signing of Cody Gakpo, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could be in line to bring in more players with the January transfer window now open.
The 23-year-old made the big-money move to the Reds last month after Liverpool hijacked Manchester United's proposed switch for Gakpo. Erik ten Hag wanted to bring in the Netherlands international but Klopp's men pipped them to complete the £45million signing as Gakpo becomes their first arrival of the month.
With Klopp adding a forward to his ranks, his next priority is surely the midfield department as Liverpool continue to be linked with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Youri Tielemans. However, Alexis Mac Alliser has been another name linked and he has been speaking about his future amid rumours surrounding a move away from Brighton.
Here are the latest rumours from Anfield.
Mac Allister responds to transfer links
Alexis Mac Allister has admitted he has "no rush" to leave Brighton as rumours continue to circulate over his future with Liverpool and Manchester United both linked.
The Argentine has been tipped to make the move to Anfield this month with Jurgen Klopp's side in need of signing a midfielder given their issues in that position. United have also been backed to make the move for Mac Allister who impressed at the World Cup but he is no rush to leave the AMEX Stadium.
"I try not to read too much," he said in a recent interview with Albion TV. "I always say I am happy here, I don’t have any rush to leave. I feel really good, I’m really grateful with this club, my team-mates and all the people who work here. I’m just focused on the next game and this club.
"It was a good World Cup for this club and for the players who went to the World Cup. We know we’ve got a good team with really good players. This is a tough league, it will be hard, but we will try to finish as high as we can."
Carragher urges Klopp to consider forgotten Liverpool man
Jamie Carragher has urged Jurgen Klopp to sign a 'Georginio Wijnaldum type' player to help fix his Liverpool midfield issues following their 3-1 defeat at Brentford.
Liverpool have particularly struggled in midfield this season with Fabinho, Naby Keita and Thiago struggling with injuries, while Jordan Henderson and James Milner are entering the twilight of their careers. And Carragher has told Klopp to go out and sign a ball-winning, energetic type player who can change that midfield.
Carragher told Sky Sports : "People keep talking about Bellingham and rightly so - he’s going to be one of the best players in world football. If Liverpool don’t get top four then that is going to be a problem but for me, which is maybe as important as a Bellingham type if you can get him, would be a Wijnaldum type. That type of player who alongside a Fabinho can just protect that back four, and stop players running through towards that defence."
Kelleher urged to leave Liverpool
Neil Lennon has urged Caoimhin Kelleher to leave Liverpool in search of regular game time having made just two senior appearances this season.
The 24-year-old is Liverpool's current second-choice stopper with Alisson the No.1 at Anfield, but the Irishman has deputised well when he has been called upon, especially in the cups last season. However, Lennon has claimed that Kelleher should depart the Reds, so he can potential fulfil his potential.
Speaking to Football Odds (via Empire of the Kop ) Lennon said: "Kelleher will need to leave Liverpool to fulfil his full potential. It will be difficult for him to displace Alisson Becker. However, he is still young and has plenty of football ahead of him. I’m sure he and Jurgen Klopp would have had conversations about this."
