Liverpool have reportedly submitted a 'substantial' opening offer for Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga.
The 21-year-old has emerged as a transfer target for the Reds this summer, though they are expected to face competition from a number of sides after his breakthrough season in La Liga.
Finishing three points above the relegation zone, Veiga's 11 goals and four assists played a vital role in keeping his boyhood club in the Spanish top-flight. His brace versus Barcelona on the final day of the campaign proved invaluable and further raised the reputation of the youngster.
Now looking to recruit the midfielder after proving his ability at the top level, Mundo Deportivo have stated Liverpool have made their move in the race for his signature and are willing to offer the player a salary worth €5m (£4.3m) per season.

The above report adds the financial aspect poses a 'significant challenge' for the Reds as they look to meet the demands of Veiga, who is currently in action for Spain at the Under-21s Euros. It is made clear Liverpool will have to meet the player's €40m (£34.4m) release clause to stand any chance of striking an agreement with Celta.
One other Premier League side eyeing Veiga are Chelsea, whose interest in the player was confirmed by the Guardian earlier this month. The Londoners are currently in the middle of a squad rebuild and are in the process of offloading a number players to free up funds and meet FFP guidelines. N'Golo Kante recently sealed a switch to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad, with Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly also expected to follow suit by heading to the Middle East.
