Controversial plans to erect a skyscraper standing 21 storeys high on top of Liverpool Street station have been dropped by Network Rail – which is now backing a smaller alternative scheme.
The new proposal still includes a tall building to help fund a capacity increases at what has become the busiest train station in the UK, due to the opening of the Elizabeth line.
