It has looked like being a summer of transition for Liverpool, with some key players expected to leave.
Mohamed Salah, of course, is the most notable of them, with his long and successful tenure set to reach a natural conclusion.
There was also a growing feeling that a key centre-back would depart when his contract expires in June.
Konate set to make contract decision

Ibrahima Konate has been the topic of much speculation throughout the season, but it seems his future could still be at Anfield.
The France international has struggled for form in 2025/26, though he has remained an important player under Arne Slot.
And Spanish publication Fichajes report that Konate is now “closer than ever” to renewing his contract with Liverpool.
The 26-year-old had reportedly rejected two previous offers, and there was interest from several clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid.
But Los Blancos are said to have chosen not to pursue a deal for Konate, which has changed the player’s situation.
Instead of a switch to the Spanish capital, the centre-back is now expected to make a 'logical move' and commit his future to Liverpool.
A lack of tangible offers from other top clubs appears to have forced Konate’s hand as his contract runs down.
In FourFourTwo’s view, extending Konate’s contract makes sense for Liverpool, assuming his wage demands are not extortionate.
While the Frenchman has had a difficult season, he is still a strong defender when on form, and his performances last season helped the Reds to the Premier League title.
Keeping him would mean less of an overhaul is required next season, and would allow new signing Jeremy Jacquet to be eased into the starting XI as a potential future replacement for Konate.
