Liverpool star Alisson delivers two-word verdict on £66m-rated Arsenal transfer target

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has heaped praise on Arsenal transfer target Darwin Nunez.

The north London outfit are in search of at least one centre-forward this summer after allowing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Barcelona during the January transfer window whilst both Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are into the final three months of their contracts with the club. football.london understands that Benfica's Nunez is being tracked ahead of a potential summer move.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed an exceptional 2021/22 campaign with the Portuguese giants, notching 29 goals and providing a further three assists, including five crucial goals in this season's instalment of the UEFA Champions League. In fact, the Uruguayan international scored during last week's quarter-final against Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

Nunez's performance impressed Reds' shot-stopper Alisson, who praised the youngster's physical attributes. Speaking ahead of tonight's second leg, he said: “It was a tough game (the first leg).

“They have quick strikers, they have a strong striker as a No.9. I know Everton as well from Brazil – I know his qualities, how good he is.

“They gave us a lot of work to do, but we are ready to face them, we are ready and prepared to face that match and to achieve our goals.” Arsenal technical director Edu will no doubt be keeping a close eye on the game at Anfield, with Nunez one of the names on the Brazilian's transfer wishlist.

Other strikers that have been linked with a move include the likes of Real Sociedad frontman Alexander Isak and Lille centre-forward Jonathan David, as well as Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
