Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's three transfer options to remain in Premier League

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to leave Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the season - but he could still remain in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old has struggled for game time at the Reds this term, featuring 12 times in all competitions with just four of those from the start. He has fallen behind the likes of Thiago, Harvey Elliott, Jordan Henderson and James Milner in the pecking order at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp could be ready to reshape his squad in the summer and Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to be one of those to make way. There has been no talks of an extension to his current deal, meaning he will be available to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.

However, Oxlade-Chamberlain may not be short of options. According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Brighton are among the clubs to have registered an interest in the former Arsenal star so far.

Brighton were in negotiations with Oxlade-Chamberlain in January over a potential move following Adam Lallana's injury, but they weren't prepared to pay a fee for him. The Seagulls have struggled for depth in the midfield department this season, with Pascal Gross having to drop deeper to cover Lallana's absence.

Meanwhile, Newcastle and Villa are both eyeing up the midfielder as Eddie Howe and Unai Emery attempt to bolster their ranks ahead of the new season. The Magpies look set to compete in Europe for the first time in a decade and need extra bodies, while continental football is not out of the realms of possibility for Villa, either.

Clubs in Serie A are also monitoring Oxlade-Chamberlain's condition and are debating whether to make a move for the ex-Southampton youngster. But the player is still focused on helping Liverpool at this stage and doesn't want to make a final decision on his future until the end of the season.

Liverpool are currently in the midst of a Champions League race alongside Tottenham, Newcastle, Manchester United and Brighton. Only two of those five can qualify for Europe's elite club competition, although Chelsea winning the competition this season could completely change things.

As it stands, Klopp's men sit sixth, seven points behind fourth-place Spurs, although they do have two games in hand on Cristian Stellini's side. But it is Newcastle who look the most likely team to break into the top four ahead of Tottenham, with Howe's side two points behind having played two fewer games.

Although United have been dragged back into the race for a top-four finish, they look all but set to qualify for next season's competition. The Red Devils also have the chance to automatically book their place through the Europa League should they win that.
