Liverpool finished the 2021/22 season failing to score in their third final of the campaign despite an impressive stat which shows they've been more than unlucky in front of goal.
The Reds were on the end of 1-0 defeat on Saturday night in the UEFA Champions League final, Vinicuis Junior's second-half goal proving to be the difference. Karim Benzema also had a first-half strike ruled out for offside in a match where Alisson in the Liverpool goal barely had a save to make.
Thibaut Courtois on the other hand had to be at his absolute best to keep Liverpool players from scoring. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah each thought they had done enough to score before the break, only to see the former Chelsea goalkeeper deny them expertly. The same happened in the second-half, Salah once again testing Courtois and forcing the Belgian into a world-class save.

Jurgen Klopp's side managed nine shots on target compared to Madrid's two and did more than enough find the back of the net at the Stade de France.
The final in Paris was Liverpool's third of the season, having played and won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup earlier this season. In both those games, Liverpool also failed to find the back of the net but managed to win both via penalties. In the FA Cup final, the Reds managed 14 shots in total over the 120 minutes.
Two were on target but neither rippled the net. In the Carabao Cup final in February, they had 10 shots once again over 120 minutes and were unlucky to not find the the back of the net once again.
In total, Liverpool's expected goals across the three finals was a staggering 6.12 but will be left wondering how they didn't score at least once in normal time.
