Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo.
Talks between the Reds and PSV have accelerated over the past 48 hours and the transfer appears to be close to completion. The ECHO understands that Liverpool will pay an initial fee of £37m with add-ons taking the total well past the £40m mark.
PSV released a statement confirming that a deal has been agreed with the Reds over Gakpo. The Dutch club stated that it will be "club record" transfer.

The injury to Luis Diaz, who is expected to be out until March, appears to have prompted Liverpool to make an early move for Gakpo. Manchester United and Real Madrid have also been heavily linked with the 23-year-old.
