Liverpool set to 'make move' to sign 15-year-old St Pat's striker

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing up a move for 15-year-old Republic of Ireland and St Patrick's Athletic sensation Mason Melia.

The teenager became St Pat's youngest ever senior scorer when he netted against Wexford in a Leinster Senior Cup tie in January aged just 15 years and 132 days.

Not only is Melia the League of Ireland side's youngest ever scorer, but he is also the youngest player to make a senior appearance for the Inchicore club.

A latest report by Football Insider has claimed the Reds have a 'strong interest' in recruiting the teenager. His exploits at junior level are said to have 'caught the attention of Premier League clubs', with Liverpool among those to have displayed an interest.

Members of the Reds' scouting department are said to have delivered 'rave reviews' regarding the striker, having kept 'close tabs' on his progress within the game.

On the international stage, Melia has previously featured for the Republic of Ireland under-14s and under-15s and is now a regular member of the under-17s squad.
