Bayleigh Passant was the hero on Tuesday night as he saved two penalties as Marine were crowned Liverpool Senior Cup champions, beating Runcorn Linnets.
The Mariners shotstopper guessed the right way twice for Neil Young's side before Joe Bunney rifled the decisive spot-kick down the middle.
Danny Taberner guessed the right way to deny Louis Britton, but Linnets were forced to rue Ryan Brooke and James Short missing from 12 yards. As a result, Marine ended their 15-year wait to have their names etched on the historic trophy.

It was a repeat of the 2022 Northern Premier League West playoff final as Marine took on Runcorn Linnets. Almost 12 months ago, it was Neil Young's side that overcame Calum McIntyre's side.
But at the DCBL Stadium, the two teams couldn't be separated after 90 minutes as the 2022-23 Liverpool Senior Cup was decided via the lottery of spot-kicks.
The game had to wait until the 20th minute for its first chance after Sean O'Mahoney's diving header from six yards out, but Fleetwood Town loanee Will Johnson was in the right place to make a crucial block.
The Northern Premier League West contenders came close once more, but Passant got a vital touch to steer the ball past the post.
Marine probed in the first half but could only muster half-chances, the best of which came from Akiel Raffie, who forced Danny Taberner to tip over from a narrow angle.
Taberner and Raffie continued their battle in the second half, with the Linnets goalkeeper pulling off a superb diving save to his right to deny the loanee's curling effort.
Marine, who were favourites going into the final due to being in a higher division, dominated spells of the ball but couldn't fashion a clearcut attempt on Taberner's goal.
Deep into stoppage time, substitute Louis Britton had the opportunity to have his name up in lights, but he couldn't get the desired contact on a header.
Marine's miserable campaign with injuries was compounded as top goalscorer Sol Solomon, who has been a standout figure in his debut season at Rossett Park, was stretchered off in the latter stages. Josh Solomon-Davies added to the problems as he was forced off moments later.
Linnets missed their first spot-kick as Passant was equal to Brooke's effort diving to his left.
It was a perfect complement of penalties until Taberner pounced to deny Britton. With the shootout in the balance, Linnets captain, Short, couldn't capitalise on the miss and handed the advantage back to the Northern Premier League side.
Lucas Weir handed the Mariners the advantage before O'Mahoney narrowly beat Passant. Bunney convincingly dispatched his spot-kick, arrowing it down the middle and into the roof of the net to secure a 4-3 win on penalties
