Liverpool’s “prettiest venue” wants to extend the hours it can sell alcohol throughout the week.
Jaloux on Victoria Street has submitted plans to the city council’s licensing authority to amend its existing terms under which it can trade. Currently the business, which dubbed itself the city’s “prettiest place to party” can sell until 3am from Sunday to Thursday.
The venue is now hoping to extend that until 4am, as well as an additional half an hour to its opening times.

According to Jaloux’s website, the venue describes itself as offering “beautiful decor, delicious cocktails, live DJs every weekend and an amazing team who will go above and beyond to make sure your night is the best it can be. We are so proud of our venue and we know you will love it.”
Liverpool Council’s licensing team awarded a licence to the applicant for Jaloux Howard Gwynn in May, allowing the business to open from midday to 4am Sunday to Thursday, with an alcohol licence until 3am and until 6am on Fridays and Saturdays with an alcohol licence until 5am. Its operating and alcohol sales terms for Friday and Saturday are not proposed to be amended under this application.
As a result, the venue will continue to serve alcohol until 5am on Friday and Saturday. Mr Gwynn has been involved with Liverpool’s nightlife scene for a number of years, owning and operating the Erotica strip club on Stanley Street - which was granted permission to expand its site in April - as well as acting as a director in Pleasure Rooms.
The Jaloux website said: “The venue itself is strikingly beautiful, being the first place in the city to have a full floral-inspired ceiling and with the walls donned with neon quotes, the Instagram photo opportunities are endless for guests to take full advantage of.”
The venue was previously home to Graffiti which closed its doors in 2019 after six years. Jaloux opened its doors after the team decided on a rebrand for the business after signing off with a promise of a new project.
A date has yet to be confirmed as to when the proposals will be heard by Liverpool Council’s licensing authority. Should it be required, the plans will go before a panel of councillors to make a final decision.
