Liverpool's most searched for interior design choices

The trendiest interior design choices in Liverpool of the past year have been revealed as part of a new study.

David Wilson Homes analysed Google search volume data as part of a new study into interior design style choices. The research found the colour green came out on top in Liverpool when it came to decorating both living rooms and bedrooms.

Searches increased by 9% and 11% respectively between October 2021 and September 2022.

Scousers pride themselves on trendiness and it shows - green also topped the colour rankings for bedrooms and living rooms across the UK as a whole. Bedroom-wise, black was a close second to green in the city, followed by blue, red and brown.

In Liverpool living rooms, it seems grey is on the way out, with searches dropping by 25%. Navy also declined by 40%, along with blue (23%) and teal (3%).

However, grey remained a popular choice for kitchens, but did suffer a 25% drop in searches for 2022 and was closely followed by black, green and sage green. Surprisingly, yellow also made the top five search terms for kitchens.

Black soared to the top of search for bathrooms in the city with a 28% year-on-year rise.

Nationally, David Wilson Homes named 'Bauhaus' as the most searched for interior design style of 2022.

Named after the German artistic movement which started in 1919 and lasted until the 1930s, David Wilson Homes described Bauhaus as "characterised by clean lines, simple, useful shapes with little or no decoration, primary colours and rational use of modern materials such as glass, concrete and steel".

It also topped 2021's leader 'Cottagecore', which dropped by 43% this year.

The design style that seen the biggest jump in demand is 'Barkitecture' which keeps pets in mind when decorating. Searches for the design trend increased by 297% compared to the previous year.
