Liverpool 's injury woes have grown even more concerning with the Reds set to be missing defender Joel Matip for the next few weeks.
The Merseyside outfit have already seen Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold restricted to the sidelines, with the pair both withdrawn during their defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Jurgen Klopp admitted that it was “not looking good” for either of the pair following the final whistle in North London. The Reds received the worst-case scenario after the duo went through further testing.
Colombian winger Diaz is set to be ruled out until at least after the World Cup in Qatar. Defender Alexander-Arnold has received better news and will only be restricted to the sidelines for a couple of weeks.
Ahead of the Reds’ Champions League trip to Ibrox to face Rangers, Liverpool have been handed yet another huge concern. As per The Athletic, defender Matip is also set to be ruled out for at least the next fortnight after suffering a calf problem at the Emirates Stadium.
He is set to be replaced by Frenchman Ibrahima Konate, who is only just back in action after a two-month lay-off, for the trip north of the border and will also miss this weekend’s clash with title contenders Manchester City.
Joe Gomez might be a contender for Matip’s place but he is likely to be needed at right-back considering that Alexander-Arnold is ruled out.

The injury worries do not end there. Liverpool were hit with a blow over summer arrival Arthur Melo last week, with the Brazilian set to undergo surgery for a thigh problem.
As well as those aforementioned blows, midfielders Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita also remain out until at least the end of the month.
In better news, however, Klopp could be buoyed by a few key players set to return in the near future. Both Curtis Jones and Andrew Robertson have returned to training although it remains to be seen whether they are fit enough to be back in contention for the mid-week clash with Rangers.
The Reds could take a huge step towards sealing their place in the next round should they earn victory at Ibrox.
Klopp’s men currently sit second in the group having won two out of their opening three matches - their only loss coming in the form of their humiliation at the hands of Napoli on matchday one.
Following their clash with Rangers, Liverpool take on Ajax in a fortnights’ time before rounding off their group schedule against Napoli in late October.
