Liverpool have had a plethora of great kits during their 130-year history, with the most cherished ones that go down in folklore the ones accompanied by great Reds success. Such as the 1965 and 1984 offerings in our recent poll when Bill Shanky’s side first won the FA Cup and Joe Fagan delivered the treble.
So apologies to our older readers but I’m going to have ignore both to opt for one of the two most recent offerings as they are the two that evoke the best memories for me. And as stylish as the club’s darker red 125-year anniversary home shirt was, that Champions League final defeat in Kiev means its legacy is one of so close and yet so far, so I’m left with one clear choice.
The 2019/20 Liverpool home shirt is one that will go down in history. With the white lines paying homage to that great 1984 kit, it is the one which saw Jurgen Klopp’s side finally end the club’s 30-year wait to be crowned champions of England.
Think of glorious victories over Man City and Manchester United as they threatened to go invincible, featuring a Fabinho thunderbolt and Alisson’s assist for Mohamed Salah as the Kop declared the Reds would win the league. Or the night we got that long-awaited Jordan Henderson shuffle after defeating Chelsea to hold that most desired trophy aloft.
Liverpool even became champions of the world in that shirt, ensuring they got a golden badge emblazoned on their chests too. The season Reds fans had been waiting for, for so long, more than delivered. And the kit they wore that year, which will forever be cherished as a result, was one of the best.
What is the greatest Liverpool kit of all time? Let us know in the comments below.

For a football shirt to be considered the greatest in its club's history, it needs to have a bit of everything.
Style? Check. Innovation? Sure. Iconic players? Most definitely. Endurance? Absolutely. Success? Without doubt.
So when we think of Liverpool's greatest ever kit, it's not a home strip that comes to mind.
There have been so many great home kits, but nothing touches the 1989/90 away kit. A slight upgrade on the two previous grey efforts introduced by Adidas, this one was perfection.
Launched on the eve of a new decade that would change football forever, the iconic grey and red effort heralded an era that would see football and fashion go hand in hand. Football kits were soon to be a must-have among supporters and even the wider public, and this kit was one of the first.
After all, there's a reason why this is now such a sought after 'retro' strip. Adidas have tried recreating it in 2008/09 (Manchester United 1-4 Liverpool, anyone?) before New Balance followed suit in 2018/19.
And as for iconic players. just picture John Barnes in it. It doesn't get better than that.
