Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has become the latest big name to recognise the talents of Leeds United’s Illan Meslier on his latest Instagram post.
Meslier has established himself as one of Leeds ’ key players since receiving his chance during the latter stages of the promotion campaign.
Since then, the 21-year-old has not looked back and he has gone from strength-to-strength between the sticks for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Meslier has made the second most amount of saves in the Premier League this season with 71, behind only Manchester United’s David de Gea, who has 84.
He also broke two divisional records in 2021, first becoming the youngest ‘keeper to 10 clean sheets, before then becoming the quickest to 50 appearances.
His quality has been recognised by several big names in football, including Tottenham Hotspur and France number one Hugo Lloris, who has earmarked Meslier as a potential to be his successor in the national team once he hangs up his gloves.
He said: “There’s Illan Meslier, who is doing very nice things in the Premier League. He’s a young goalkeeper, but when you look at what he’s doing at his age, in such a tough and intense league, it shows all his potential.”
And now Liverpool’s Alisson has publicly shown his admiration for the talent of the young Leeds United shot stopper.
Alisson is regarded as one of, if not the best goalkeeper in the world for the displays he has produced for the Reds on a consistent basis, which has seen him win both the Premier League and Champions League in recent years.
On Meslier’s latest Instagram post, where he posted a highlights reel captioned ‘back to business’, Alisson responded with the ‘fire’ emoji.
