A Liverpool city centre restaurant has received two AA rosettes for culinary excellence.
The AA, which is known for its popular Restaurant Guide, has awarded Manifest on Watkinson Street two of its prestigious rosettes after being judged by professional inspectors. Restaurants can receive up to five Rosettes from the AA's judges.
To receive just one rosette is a rare honour, according to the AA's Restaurant Guide. It says: "Of all the restaurants across the UK, approximately 10% are of a standard worthy of 1 Rosette and above. The taste of a dish is what counts, and whether it successfully delivers to the diner the promise of the menu. A restaurant is only as good as its worst meal.

"We are often asked by chefs and proprietors: “What is the difference between 1 and 5 Rosettes and how can I get to the next level?” We answer that it’s how well a chef manages to apply advanced technique while retaining maximum flavour, and assuming an appropriate quality of source ingredients."
Manifest, which opened back in March, has been awarded two AA rosettes for culinary excellence. The Baltic Triangle restaurant offers a “modern British menu” and wine list.
The restaurant is from the owners of The Little Shoe, the family run brasserie and micro bakery which had branches on Bold Street and in St George’s Hall before closing last year. The restaurant's name, plus the menu, is inspired by the Baltic Triangle’s historic shipping trade. Owner and chef, Paul Duran, has created a “modern British menu with wine firmly in mind.”
Manifest’s owner Paul shared the news on Instagram and said the team “couldn’t be happier”. He added that he is “so proud” of the team and thanked them for their hard work.
Paul also thanked the restaurant's suppliers and said customers “are the heart and soul of Manifest”. The full post read: “We have been awarded 2 rosettes for culinary excellent [sic] from @aaratedtrips and we couldn’t be happier.
“I’m so proud of the team, hard work does pay off, thanks guys! We couldn’t do what we do without our amazing suppliers @veg.and.petals @butcherfarrell @liverpoolcheeseco and also @r2_architecture for understanding what we wanted to do and helping us deliver it!
“To everyone who dined or raised a glass with us over the last 6 months, you are the heart and soul of manifest! We are over the moon. Paul x”.
In July 2022 Manifest was added to the Michelin Guide and named among the judges’ favourites. It was praised for its “carefully cooked” dishes and “complementary flavours and textures”.
