It's been a rather busy summer for Liverpool already as they have brought in three new signings, while waving goodbye to Sadio Mane who has joined Bayern Munich.
Business is reportedly done for Jurgen Klopp 's side as they've splashed out a combined total of £77million on Fabio Carvalho, Calvin Ramsay and Darwin Nunez, although the latter could end up costing another £21m in add-ons. But they've raised £35m by selling Mane to Bayern, after the Senegalese star expressed his desire to leave.
Liverpool are known for their net spend, and consistently manage to balance the books while bringing in the best talent. But they will now receive an extra £1.75m after Nottingham Forest signed Taiwo Awoniyi, who used to play for Klopp's side.
The Nigerian was brought to Liverpool in the summer of 2015, and a fee of £400,000 was paid to the Imperial Soccer Academy. But Awoniyi failed to make an appearance for Liverpool, and after multiple loan spells he was eventually sold to Union Berlin in 2021.
Berlin paid £6.5m to Liverpool last summer, and the Reds negotiated a sell-on clause of 10 percent in any future deals. But they probably weren't expected a pay-out this quickly. After a breakthrough season in Berlin, scoring 15 Bundesliga goals, Nottingham Forest have made him their record signing as they experience life back in the Premier League.
Forest have paid £17.5m for the striker, meaning that Liverpool will receive £1.75m from the deal. It may be a small fee in todays market, but it's a sum that could easily be put to good use.
Forest have returned to the Premier League for the first time since 1999, and securing a top striker is essential if they want to remain in the top division. And it's a great opportunity for Awoniyi to prove himself, after being sent out on loan seven times before the age of 24.
Liverpool's business is reportedly complete this summer, after The Times announced that the Reds have wrapped up their window. Carvalho was already agreed after a failed attempt in January, and Ramsay concluded an efficient window.
Ramsay will be the back-up to Trent Alexander-Arnold that Liverpool have been looking for, and Klopp's attack has been bolstered by two new stars in Mane's absence. Nunez could end up being Liverpool's record signing, and the 22-year-old arrives with a lot of excitement.
Liverpool fans are crying out for a midfielder though, and it's a position that they haven't strengthened since Georginio Wijnaldum left last summer. But despite the urgency from the fans, Klopp doesn't seem to be too worried.
Thiago really stepped up last season, and Naby Keita is reportedly close to signing a new deal at the club. Liverpool may be waiting for next season, and they remain heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
The midfielder confirmed that he would be staying at Dortmund next season, but his future hasn't been decided beyond that point. Klopp has close ties to Dortmund, and Liverpool may be saving their budget for next summer.
