Liverpool 'prepare Naby Keita swap deal' for £30m-rated midfielder

Liverpool are preparing a 'swap deal' with Inter Milan for Marcelo Brozovic that would include Naby Keita departing the club, according to reports in Italy.

The Reds have been increasingly linked with reinforcements in midfield as their dismal start to 2023 continued against Brighton last weekend. Jurgen Klopp's side did bounce back, however, with an FA Cup third-round replay win at Wolves on Tuesday in which young midfielder Stefan Bajcetic starred.

The recalled Keita also impressed. The Guinea international has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons, which have severely hampered his development at Liverpool. Keita was signed from RB Leipzig amid great fanfare and while he has shown flashes of his true potential, overall he has failed to live up to his price tag.

And as Keita enters the final months of his contract at Anfield, Calciomercato Web has reported that the Reds are on the offensive. They claim Liverpool are willing to make a cash-plus-Keita offer for Brozovic.

The Croatia international, who is rated around £30m, has made 302 appearances for the Serie A giants Inter, 12 of which have come this season. Although, a concern for the Reds would be he has missed a handful of games during the current campaign through muscle injuries.

It's not the first time Brozovic has been linked with a move to Merseyside. Last summer, the 30-year-old was heavily tipped to reinforce Liverpool's midfield. However, nothing materialised as Reds boss Klopp looked to the players at his disposal.

Keita, along with fellow midfielders James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, is out of contract in the summer.
