Liverpool potential route to Champions League final set after Bayern Munich stunned

Liverpool will face Villarreal in the semi-finals of the Champions League - if they get the job done against Benfica at Anfield tomorrow night.

The Reds currently lead their Portuguese opponents 3-1 on aggregate heading into the second-leg on Wednesday. Goals from Ibrahima Konate, Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz ensured Jurgen Klopp's side took a comfortable lead back to Merseyside.

However, Darwin Nunez' second-half effort offers Benfica a glimmer of hope.

Elsewhere, Villarreal will feature in their first Champions League semi-final since 2006 after they held out against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. They took a narrow 1-0 lead into the second leg.

Bayern looked like they could go on and win it after Robert Lewandowksi levelled the aggregate scoreline in the second-half. But it wasn't without response as Samuel Chukwueze scored late to restore their one goal lead.

Unai Emery's side currently sit seventh in La Liga, but they've knocked out two European giants in order to reach the semi-finals. In the round of 16, they beat Juventus 4-1 on aggregate.

They did, however, finish second in their group behind Manchester United. The Premier League side managed to beat them both home and away.

On the other side of the draw, Real Madrid beat Chelsea 5-4 on aggregate after a night of pure drama at the Bernabeu, while Manchester City take a 1-0 lead away to Atletico Madrid tomorrow evening for their second leg decider.
