Your evening Liverpool headlines on Friday, May 6.

Plans and route confirmed for potential Liverpool victory parade through city

Liverpool Council have confirmed plans for what would be a spectacular victory parade through the city if Liverpool Football Club have a successful end to the season.

The Reds are chasing a historic quadruple as they look to add the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup to their Carabao Cup triumph earlier in the year. They will face Chelsea in the FA cup final on Saturday May 14 and Real Madrid in Paris for the Champions League showdown on May 28.

The Mayor of Liverpool, Joanne Anderson has now officially invited Liverpool FC to take part in a victory parade in preparation of the potential outcome of the season. The council is now looking at putting the complex plans into action.

While LFC are chasing success on multiple fronts, the council has confirmed that a victory parade will only take place if the Reds win the Premier League or Champions League.

The major logistical challenges needed to arrange a parade of this scale means the announcement is being made in advance so residents and businesses in the city can prepare. The only date available to hold a victory parade within the city and to have all the players available is Sunday, 29 May from 4pm. Immediately after the parade, the majority of the players will be traveling on international duty to represent their respective countries.

Jose Mourinho reveals who he is supporting in Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Liverpool booked their place in the Paris showdown after overcoming Villarreal in the semi-finals earlier this week. Jurgen Klopp’s side eventually prevailed 5-2 on aggregate.

While Real booked their place in the May 28 game after coming from behind to leave Manchester City stunned on Wednesday night. Despite trailing both on the night and in the tie, Carlo Ancelotti’s side somehow prevailed.

Rodrygo scored twice to force an extra 30 minutes, cancelling out Riyad Mahrez’s opener in the process, before Karim Benzema struck from the spot to seal a 6-5 win on aggregate for Los Blancos and leave City wondering what if in Europe for a sixth consecutive season.

Mourinho's Roma reached the final of the Europa Conference League on Thursday night after edging past Leicester City. Tammy Abraham's powerful header for the home side was the difference in Rome after the first-leg finished 1-1 at King Power last week.

And in his post-match interview at the Stadio Olimpico, Mourinho couldn’t resist but reveal he will be rooting for his 'great' friend Ancelotti when the Reds take on Real at the Stade de France later this month.
