Alisson Becker 6
Good save to deny Mbeumo and no chance with opener, unlucky not to keep out second and exposed for third.
Trent Alexander-Arnold 5
Didn’t really have much chance to threaten first half as defensively busy, but fine cross for Oxlade-Chamberlain header and slightly more joy as game progressed.
Ibrahima Konate 5
Deserved better than his unfortunate own goal. Read game well and strong in the tackle and in the air, until he fell over for the third.

Virgil van Dijk 4
Beaten by Mbeumo’s run from deep for one Brentford chance and didn’t look comfortable at all. Subbed at half-time.
Kostas Tsimikas 3
Erratic with some of his crosses and missed good chance at near post before break. Out of position often. Replaced at break.
Fabinho 5
Got stuck into a real battle straight away, although some of the officiating left him perplexed. Close with one second-half effort.
Harvey Elliott 4
Saw enough of the ball first half but didn’t do enough with it, and poor mistake for the second. Would benefit from a rest. Booked and subbed.
Thiago Alcantara 5
Couldn’t exert the same influence as against Leicester but didn’t shirk the gritty stuff. At least sought some openings. Booked.
Mohamed Salah 5
Fine throughball created Nunez chance but not much room in which to operate first half, although bit more joy after break.
Darwin Nunez 5
Not given much service other than one early opening cleared off line by Mee. Goal disallowed after break and pulled one effort horribly wide. Booked.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 6
Created chance for Tsimikas and got through a lot of work, and danger when drifting centrally highlighted with header for goal. Subbed.
Andy Robertson (for Tsimikas 46) 6
Instantly made difference with thrusts down the left flank.
Naby Keita (for Elliott 46) 6
Kept the ball well, looked to pass forward and pressed with energy.
Joel Matip (for Van Dijk 46) 6
Brought a bit more composure to the defence.
Curtis Jones (for Oxlade-Chamberlain 83)
Thankless task.
