Alisson Becker 6
Safe enough with his handling and coped with the pressure from City when ball was at his feet, but a mix-up of sorts for the second.
Trent Alexander-Arnold 5
Brought aggression to the Liverpool play early on and defended simply. Got forward when possible, but not all clearances found mark and overwhelmed after break.
Ibrahima Konate 5
Caught out of position a few times first half and not his most composed showing. Not the only one to struggle in the Liverpool defence.

Virgil van Dijk 5
Dominant in the air first half and passing out from the back put Liverpool on front foot. But then looked rather slow during pivotal moments after half-time.
Andy Robertson 5
Hands full with Mahrez regularly before break but was still able to raid down the left flank but caught out somewhat for the second. Subbed.
Fabinho 6
Escaped a booking after a succession of early fouls and stuck to his defensive task in the engine room, but difficult second half.
Jordan Henderson 6
Added bite to the Liverpool midfield and looked to move the Reds forward at pace. Confronted a few City players but second half tough going.
Harvey Elliott 5
Used the ball intelligently and saw plenty of it first half before being caught up in the City whirlwind. Subbed.
Cody Gakpo 5
A couple of good runs from his deeper role but far too peripheral for large periods was too peripheral. Poor attempt to win a penalty second half. Subbed.
Diogo Jota 6
Worked very hard down the left first half and timely run and lay-off created the opener, but faded after the interval. Subbed.
Mohamed Salah 7
Took his goal superbly and a real threat playing down the middle before break, especially when up against Ake. More testing after that. Booked and subbed.
Kostas Tsimikas (for Robertson 70) 5
Didn’t add much to the Liverpool cause.
Roberto Firmino (for Jota 70) 5
Added little to the Liverpool cause.
Darwin Nunez (for Salah 70) 5
Made minimal difference to the Liverpool cause.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (for Elliott 70) 5
Fractional contribution to the Liverpool cause.
James Milner (for Gakpo 83)
Booed.
