Liverpool player ratings as Stefan Bajcetic and two others excellent against Everton

Alisson Becker 7

Claimed a few crosses and convincing with distribution. Very little to do in terms of saves.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 7

Invited by Everton to get forward but his passing was inconsistent early on before improvement evidenced by assist for the second.

Joe Gomez 8

Dealt well with the physical Simms and won a succession of aerial duels and benefited from no-nonsense defending.

Joel Matip 7

Decent enough coming forward but some of his defending was unconvincing before settling down.

AS IT HAPPENED: Liverpool vs Everton goals and highlights

Andy Robertson 7

Joined Nunez in tussling down the left flank and began to probe before half-time. Purposeful thrust forward prompted second goal. Annoyed Everton. Booked.

Fabinho 7

Much, much better than of late and grew in confidence the longer the game progressed. Did the simple stuff well.

Jordan Henderson 7

Earned cheers from the Kop with some intent pressing and tackling, and set good tempo. Freedom to move forward more second half. Subbed.

Stefan Bajcetic 9

Mixed bag in the first half with enthusiasm and energy tempered by inexperience with some overly-ambitious passes, but demonstrated he’s a quick learner with an excellent showing after break. Subbed.

Mohamed Salah 8

Soon got plenty joy up against Mykolenko before important part in initiating and then finishing the opener, and involved in second. His belief is back. Subbed.

Cody Gakpo 7

Sent improvised header wide and a lot of nearly things in the first half, before the relief of his first Liverpool goal prompted a fine second-half showing. Subbed.

Darwin Nunez 7

Inadvertently set up chance for Gakpo with overhead kick but excellent in breaking out of defence and showing pace to create Salah opener. Lively once again. Subbed.

Diogo Jota (for Nunez 70) 6

The ring-rust was obvious after such a long time out.

James Milner (for Henderson 80)

Good tackle stopped potential Maupay break.

Roberto Firmino (for Gakpo 80)

Looked lively on his return.

Naby Keita (for Bajcetic 90)

Win bonus.

Harvey Elliott (for Salah 90)

Hello, sir.
