Liverpool player ratings as Naby Keita dreadful and two others poor vs Crystal Palace

Alisson Becker 7

Bailed out his defenders with save from Mateta early on and solid enough with ball at his feet. Did nothing wrong.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 5

Very sloppy first half both with distribution and defending, although struck decent free-kick. Slight improvement second half. Subbed.

Joel Matip 5

Did not have a fun first half up against Mateta and not the most convincing in possession, and added to the occasional sense of unease in defence too regularly. Booked.

Virgil van Dijk 7

Didn’t mess about with his clearances and looked to restore some order to the defence. Solid enough.

Andy Robertson 6

Offered himself regularly going forward but never an easy defensive task up against Olise. Passing not quite always on point, though. Booked.

Jordan Henderson 6

Used the ball reasonably well and offered defensive protection, but got in the way of goalbound Alexander-Arnold free-kick first half. Bit loose at times second half.

James Milner 6

Kept things simple in midfield and put his foot in when required. At least showed some composure, and moved to right-back in final quarter.

Naby Keita 4

Lost the ball too many times first half and sailed close to wind with a number of fouls after an earlier booking. Subbed at half-time.

Mohamed Salah 6

Twice threatened the goal before break but wasn’t involved enough and had to come get the ball at times. Same story again second half and hit the crossbar.

Cody Gakpo 6

Started with purpose and caused problems when running from deep but slowed down by two heavy challenges. Not quite as influential second half and switched to left wing. Subbed.

Diogo Jota 6

Lively enough in his normal bustling manner and tested Guaita while also hitting the outside of the post. Close with effort second half and kept going. Subbed.

Harvey Elliott (for Keita 46) 6

Made a positive difference with his energy and urgency.

Fabinho (for Alexander-Arnold 71) 5

Another disappointing cameo from the bench. Booked.

Roberto Firmino (for Jota 71) 5

Wasn’t able to affect the game much.

Stefan Bajcetic (for Gakpo 85)

Minutes for the youngster.
