Luke Hewitson 8
Good save early on from Kelly and other good stops as Rochdale pressed. Confident and assured and excellent penalty save.
James McConnell 6
Usually a midfielder, found matters tough early on but, like so many Liverpool youngsters, grew into the game.
Luca Stephenson 8
The versatile midfielder, who has been playing at right-back, switched to the heart of defence and showed good moments of composure and defended impressively.

Oludare Olufunwa 7
Some nervy moments early on, particularly in possession, and booked for a strong tackle on Kelly. Better second half and began to dominate in the air, but sent off for conceding missed penalty.
James Norris 6
Given a real defensive test by Sinclair at times but continued to offer himself for the overlap going forward. Great engine.
Stefan Bajcetic 7
Began slowly but soon producing the kind of defensive midfield performance that has found favour with Klopp. Subbed.
Arthur Melo 8
Continued to build up his fitness with a confident display, particularly with his use of the ball and speed in possession. Subbed.
Dominic Corness 6
Skipper for the evening, became a more prominent influence once Liverpool began to make inroads.
Lewis Koumas 7
Thrown in after Cain pulled out through illness and began to shine in the second half when running at his marker down the right flank. Subbed.
Layton Stewart 6
Unable to affect the game much first half and could have done better with one low cross. More involved after break and tested Rochdale keeper O’Donnell.
Harvey Blair 6
Found himself in some encouraging positions first half but too often got lost down blind alleys. Booked.
Jay Spearing (for Arthur 62) 6
Back in competitive action for Liverpool for the first time in a decade.
Carter Pinnington (for Bajcetic 62) 6
Fantastic moment for the 15-year-old.
Charlie Hayes-Green (for Koumas 87)
Minutes for the youngster.
