Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho have both made the cut for the new 60-man Golden Boy shortlist, as presented by Tuttosport .
The Liverpool pair have joined the likes of Jude Bellingham, Karim Adeyemi, Eduardo Camavinga and Ansu Fati in progressing into the latest round of votes after an impressive 2022 so far. The Golden Boy award is given to the most promising under-21 player during the calendar year, with the 2021 award going to Barcelona midfielder Pedri.
Reds midfielder Elliott returned to playing in February, scoring in the 3-1 FA Cup win against Cardiff City after 147 days out with a fracture dislocation of his left ankle in a Premier League game at Leeds United. The 19-year-old featured sporadically for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they fought for an historic quadruple but ultimately fell short.

Elliott’s rapidly increasing prominence within the first-team picture earned him a new contract this summer, just one year after his last extension, with the teenager penning a five-year deal to keep him at the club until 2027 - a move that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp described as ‘exciting’
“There is so much to like about this,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com last week. “For us, as a club, we get to continue our journey with a special young player who has already made a big impact on Liverpool FC.
“It was always obvious that he was a good footballer but taking the next steps was always going to be about using information and experiences to grow and this is exactly what Harvey is doing. Now it is all about carrying on enjoying his football as much as we enjoy watching him develop. It is an exciting time for him and for us.”
Elliot’s former team-mate at Fulham, Fabio Carvalho, arrived on Merseyside this summer after his contract at Craven Cottage expired. The 19-year-old proved a vital cog in Marco Silva’s promotion-winning Championship side last season with 10 goals and eight assists in 36 games.
The attacking midfielder - who worked his way through the England youth setup before switching to Portugal at under-21 level - was impressive during pre-season, going on to make his competitive debut in last weekend’s draw at his former club Fulham.
Since the awards inception in 2003, only Raheem Sterling has won as a Liverpool player. The England winger took the prize in 2014 for his role in the Reds side that finished second during the 2013/2014 campaign.
There are now 60 contenders remaining for this year's Golden Boy award. The candidates are being reduced by 20 each month until the winner is announced at a ceremony in Turin later this year.
