Liverpool need a huge turn around in performances to get their season back on track following Wednesday’s humiliating 4-1 defeat to Napoli in the Champions League.
The result leaves Liverpool with just two victories from seven games so far this season with Virgil van Dijk among those on the end of criticism following the poor showing in Naples. The Dutchman was blasted as “overrated” for his performance, while Luis Diaz described his consolation goal as “worthless”.
It was a new low for Jurgen Klopp's side who now have just a few days to prepare for the visit of Wolves on Saturday as they look to get back to winning ways.
Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest stories coming out of Anfield.
Van Dijk blasted as “overrated”
Virgil van Dijk has been blasted as “overrated” in comparison to John Terry and Rio Ferdinand as the Reds’ tricky start to the season continued against Napoli.
TalkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy has taken aim at the Liverpool centre-back and suggested that his recent performances are not befitting of a player billed as one of the best defenders in world football.
Speaking after Liverpool’s loss, he said: “If you look at Rio Ferdinand and John Terry who over a number of years won multiple Premier Leagues, won Champions League and won FA Cups. The pair of them won the lot. Van Dijk is a brilliant centre-half, but overrated at Liverpool. If you did a best XI at Liverpool ever, he’s not in there.”

Diaz sends “worthless” message to teammates
Luis Diaz admits Liverpool "have to improve" after their challenging start to the season reached a new low with their dismal loss at Napoli.
The Colombian winger was one of few Liverpool players to emerge with any credit and scored his side's only goal in the 49th minute. Diaz's strike was a fair reward for his hard work and desire to make things happen, but the 25-year-old lamented his fine effort as a "worthless" goal in a downbeat post-match interview.
"The goal I scored was worthless. It would have been important if it helped the team more," Gol Caracol reported Diaz saying on ESPN. "We have to improve and look at what is being done for what is coming, which is much more important. We are in this together and I know that this will change.”
