Liverpool can put the pressure on their rivals for European qualification with a win over relegation-threatened Leeds United on Monday night.
It has been a deeply disappointing season for the Reds, with Jurgen Klopp's men at serious risk of missing out on a place in the top four. But former Arsenal star Robert Pires is confident Klopp can turn things around next season to mount a title challenge.
Pires' tip comes as Chelsea dropped an embarrassing gaffe involving Cody Gakpo and Andy Robertson came under fire for the Constantine Hatzidkas incident. Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Liverpool news.
Reds tipped for title challenge
Arsenal legend Robert Pires believes Liverpool can stage a stunning turnaround to mount a Premier League title challenge next season. The Reds have endured a dreadful campaign, but Pires is confident Klopp can find the solutions to their problems.
"Of course, in the future, teams like Manchester City, Manchester United and even Chelsea and Liverpool will have better financial possibilities to remain competitive at the highest level, that is clear," the two-time Premier League winner admitted.
"So next season it will be much harder for Arsenal, especially with the added burden of the Champions League."

Chelsea drop Gakpo clanger
Chelsea dropped an embarrassing gaffe related to Cody Gakpo during their defeat to Brighton. As Danny Welbeck came on to replace Evan Ferguson, the Stamford Bridge scoreboard stated it was Gakpo who was actually coming on for the Seagulls.
In giant letters, the words 'Substitution, Player on' were written, with Gakpo's name bizarrely underneath, despite the Dutchman having no connection to Brighton. Seagulls fans delighted in Chelsea's gaffe.
They broke out into chants of "Cody Gakpo, he's one of our own". They then proceeded to sing "If Gakpo scores, we're on the pitch" as Roberto De Zerbi's men pushed for an equaliser.

Robertson slammed for referee treatment
Liverpool star Andy Robertson has been blasted by Reds legend Graeme Souness for his part in the Constantine Hatzidakis incident. Robertson appeared to be elbowed by the assistant referee during the clash with Arsenal, but Souness has blamed the Scot for the incident.
“There had been an earlier conversation between him and the official, Constantine Hatzidakis, and you didn’t need to be a rocket scientist to work out what he was saying when he approached him again, as the teams left the pitch at half-time," he told the Daily Mail.
“Robbo is among the most guilty when it comes to Premier League players letting the officials have it. And to compound things, he then placed an arm on Hatzidakis. I don’t care how light that contact might have been, you never touch an official in a moment of criticism.”
